A complaint has been filed against actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family members in Mumbai for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The bone of contention is a viral video from the family’s annual Christmas party in which Kapoor was heard saying “Jai Mata Di” after pouring liquor on a cake.

No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case yet.

The complaint was filed on Wednesday by one Sanjay Tiwari at Ghatkopar police station through his lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra., according to news agency PTI Tiwari claimed that in the video the actor is seen pouring liquor on cake and setting it on fire while saying "Jai Mata Di".

"In Hinduism, fire god is invoked before invoking other deities, but Ranbir Kapoor and his family members deliberately used intoxicants while celebrating the festival of another religion and chanted Jai Mata Di", the complaint said.

Ranbir Kapoor and wife Alia Bhatt attended the Kapoor family’s annual Christmas brunch on Monday. The brunch was held at late actor Shashi Kapoor’s residence. Several members of Bollywood’s first family marked their presence at the brunch, including Karisma Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Babita, Aadar Jain, Agastya Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda.

In the viral video, Ranbir Kapoor was seen lighting a cake aflame as part of the Christmas flambé tradition.

The brunch also marked the first public appearance for Ranbir and Alia’s daughter Raha.
