Cricket's biggest prize is here. The 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 kicks off from October 5 and will go on till November 19, the first ICC World Cup to be entirely hosted by India. Ten teams will play a total of 48 games in 10 venues – Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad will host the warm-up games from September 29 to October 3.
Two time-champion (1983, 2011) and No. 3 ODI team, India has the home edge while five-time winners Australia and defending champions England are also favourites to win the cup.
The other teams include Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan play each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14, their eighth meeting in this format.
